Eat the Stores - Late Night Snacking

Eating the stores is lethal when you get the urge to snack late at night.

It's such a good excuse ... "It's okay I'm eating down the stores and these have to be used up."

So from fancying a nibble of something to eating it took just under half an hour ... because I had a packet of Jus-Rol 'Pains au Chocolate' in the fridge ... to having a freshly baked and quite tasty supper.

Of course you have to make the full pack up at once, well I always do anyway.

So although my plate started off with just two tasty rolls to go with my last coffee of the day, another little tasty treat might have leapt on to it an hour later.

I made myself feel so stuffed in the end that I broke up the last three pastries and put them into the chicken food bowl for the morning, to stop me being tempted again.

  1. They look so tasty and there's little quite as good as fresh baked. I'm not surprised you were tempted.

  2. There should be a mechanism, other than will power, to stop late night snacking.
We came in last night after a quiz evening,( happens once a year and always reminds me why I don't like them),
and despite having had a perfectly adequate evening meal we snacked and then felt full and cross with ourselves half an hour later.
Our trouble is we egg each other on! Sue

    1. I have no excuse, there was no one here to egg me on as Alan's been away all week. He's usually the one that does all the late night snacking and I'm usually very good. Something's definitely wrong with my will power at the moment ... I think it's left home!!

  3. Oh they do look good and as you rightly say you're using up what you have in stick, I hope they touched the temptation spot and satisfied it. The chickens will be in for a treat today lol. I'm using up some ys sprouts I got on the 23rd Dec @ 5p a pack with some if my 29p Tesco pre Christmas potatoes I've turned into bubble n squeak when I steamed my cauli yesterday on the hob, double cooking to save fuel. I'll be serving it with baked bean and a fried egg. By the way the ys strawberries I got did 10 jars of jam for £3.45, I get my sugar from Farmfoods 1 kilo bags x2 for £1, I always gave some in for jam making. Looking forward to your next post Sue xx

    1. Oh they more than satisfied the temptation spot :-)

And yes the chickens loved them too, I made sure to break them up small so all ten of them had a couple of pieces, including little old Poppy who has her breakfast in the hen-house now. They all LOVE pastry and bread.

You're doing so well, you're putting me to shame!

  5. I have had those before and also the cinnamon swirl ones, quite handy to keep in for a quick bake.
Love this blog, as with all the blogs you have had. I am going to post some pics of my cupboards later, we should survive several months without shopping now apart from the fresh bits.xx
