I hadn't meant to go shopping again for Yellow Stickers ... I thought we had enough food in and so for the final day I was just going to waffle about the Challenge ... but Alan needed some milk and I was in Llandudno again, so it would have been rude not to wander past the reduced to clear cabinet.
I struck gold - yet again!!
There was nobody else at the reduced shelves rummaging so at first I thought it might be pretty empty, but no, the reductions were only first reductions but there were some quality items to be had ... so I had them :-)
A couple of packs of breaded plaice, one of which we had for our tea last night with oven chips and veg, some posh looking Wagyu burgers and some Aberdeen Angus Beef Meatballs, along with some ready roasted chicken and some Pesto and Mozzarella Chicken Breast Fillets all for Alan. He will be eating well long after this Challenge is over.
Then calling to the bakery section for a packet of buns I spied the little 'Lovebugs' cakes on the bread and cake reduction shelves ... well it was Valentines day, so I had to ... didn't I ?
Walking back through the fruit and vegetable section I saw there were lots of reduced packs of various fruits and vegetables, but we didn't really need anything that was there so I was about to go and pay for my other goodies when I spied these Clementines.
A 98p saving was not to be sniffed at when I knew we had only two little lonely and drying up tangerines left in the fridge.
Finally I remembered the stationery shelves had had lots of reductions on my last visit so I had a wander over there and I found this ...
... a plastic briefcase style wallet with notebooks and all sorts of bits and bobs that would come in useful when doing officey type things at the caravan.
Not a bad buy for just £5,and the wallet itself will be great for keeping all the caravan paperwork and bills in.
So again visiting Asda I managed to get some foody and non-foody goodies at yellow sticker prices. And it shows it's good to keep your eyes open when you are out shopping as you never know what you are going to come across.
Back tomorrow with the final figures and some Challenge waffle ... I know you like me waffling on ;-)
Spent in Asda £20.51 Original Price £32.78 Saving me £12.27

You have the magic touch, you really do! Looking fowrard to your concluding waffle!ReplyDelete
I've had a really lucky week, it's been brilliant :-)Delete
Your waffling is far more fascinating than many weighty words in other peoples' posts. Keep waffling I say!ReplyDelete
I'm particularly envious about the stationary pack. We had a VW Transporter camper van till a year ago when we decided that the time had come to stop camping. One of the things I miss most is the fun of setting up and collecting bits.
I look forward to tomorrow’s post. Sue
Thank you, I'll try not to get 'weighty' :-)Delete
I love me a good bit of stationery, it's one of my many weaknesses .... although I doubt I'll ever use the compass or protractor ;-)
Yes, another one looking forward to the waffley post tomorrow!ReplyDelete
LOL. Memo to self. Put glasses on before trying to look at pictures of your YS bargains. On first glance, I thought the Lovebugs were sushi rolls .............. Savannah.ReplyDelete
No much more sugary and sweet than sushi rolls. It made Alan smile, so my little bargain was a good buy :-)Delete
Sue, I've really enjoyed your 7 days of ys shopping it's nice to see what is available in other areas as a lot of people say oh there's nothing where we live. My daughter is an Aldi shopper and goes early in the morning and sometimes gets 50% off mainly fruit, veg and bread. I do hope you'll continue to call into supermarkets and other shops when you are either walking or driving by. I was first inspired into ys shopping by Ilona. Looking forward to your round up tomorrow, I'll be popping into the co-op today about 1pm ish to look at the reductions xxReplyDelete
I think it's a case of tuning your eye in to look for the reduced labels. In some shops there are the 'reduction cabinets' or specific shelves and in other I've found things dotted here there and everywhere.Delete
Ilona is the queen of YS shopping, I could never hope to compete :-)
I might nip to the Co-op myself later, we do need a sliced loaf.
I went to the co-op at 1pm I managed to get £22.95 worth of ys items reduced to £4.52, my best buys were 2 ready cooked chickens reduced to £1.19p each reduced from £5.97p the rest is fruit, veg, garlic naans, bread, cheesy coleslaw xxDelete
What can I say ... WOW!! Well done 😃Delete
Have enjoyed reading about your YS hauls, you have done very well in variety and timing wise, if you know what I mean. It is interesting to see what other people buy. Looking forward to your review tomorrow and seeing if there is anything you will continue doing. I hit it lucky again last night, picked up a water melon, blueberries, peppers, bread, egggs and cakes for my gannets, etc, again at very knocked down prices, but I end up going at the end of the days, as I drop hubby off to work between 4 - 6. Luck and timing is everything in the YS game. Wish there was somewhere to look for when you have a glut of a product. Helen S.ReplyDelete
It's exactly that - luck. Being in the right place at the right time, and having the time and the impetus to nip into shops whenever you can. Thanks for reading along. 🙂Delete
Wow, you are getting a lot of posh food on the yellow sticker challenge! We are back in North Wales next month, can't wait!ReplyDelete
Haha ... yes lots of posh nosh 🙂Delete
Thankyou for sharing your ys food, you had some good quality stuff there, looking forward to your next challenge. xxReplyDelete
My pleasure ... it's been fun sharing.Delete
Thanks for sharing the yellow sticker challenge with us. You got excellent bargains on your food and on that stationary package.ReplyDelete
My pleasure. Yes I was pleased with the stationery set, I'm a sucker for notebooks and pens and I did need the pens, so many have run out on me this week. 🙂Delete
I look forward to your summing up tomorrow. I have you book marked here and also at "A smaller life" Today when I checked in there it is saying - this blog is open to invited readers only. What is going on, do you know? It says to ask the author. Just wondered if you knew or have changed it.ReplyDelete
My other blog is just down for some maintenance and being prepared for a bit of a new slant on 1st March. Don't worry it will be open to everyone again then, at the moment only I can see it while I twiddle around with it.Delete
I bought a tray of YS meatballs for 89p this week and squished them into burgers to put in rolls for lunch. Delicious! Also got a tray of cooked chicken breasts for 69p which are portioned up and in the freezer for packed lunches. Aldi often have half price food in the mornings. I bought sprouts at half price today. The dogs love them raw!!ReplyDelete
Brilliant, I've never done it that way before, I usually turn burgers into meatballs 😃Delete
I don't think I would give Suky the Pug a raw sprout ... she farts enough on 'normal' foods without giving her brassicas 😆😄
That made me laugh!!Delete
